Engineering Application/Software Developer
Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing with the main focus on increasing Engineering proficiency, reducing Engineering related errors, and improving/enhancing the work flow through the Engineering department.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Determine Department needs through Collaboration with others in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications.Develop creative system enhancement plans for the improvement of department functions and processes, must poses the ability to convey ideas to supervisors in order to obtain approval for said enhancements.Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications.Provide Engineering automation applications to enhance CAD software to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency for the department.Work in conjunction with the Five Star Airport Alliance insofar as enhancing engineering related communications and the sharing of documents and data. Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.Be aware of the overall business plan for the engineering department and the company. Incorporate business management thinking into custom workflow software to improve management visibility of day-to-day operations and provide management the ability to generate reports for said events.Maintain, create and modify engineering related databases, which support many cross-departmental functions, including customer service, PPMC, Engineering, Project Management, Estimating, Manuals, and Production.Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.Take an active role in cross-departmental projects when needed.Assist in other areas as necessary to support the overall business system.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Two-year college diploma or university degree in computer science or information technology, and/or 1-2 years equivalent work experience.
• Technically fluent in programming languages, including Visual Basic, VBA, VB.Net and AutoLisp.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word and MS Access. Including experience working with API’s.
• Database and operating systems experience with MS SQL Server and Windows 2000.
• Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly logical, highly self motivated and directed, and with a keen attention to detail.
