Engineering Training Instructor

The Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) is operated for the Department of Energy by Bechtel Bettis, Inc., and is located at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). NRF receives, examines and prepares naval spent nuclear fuel for temporary storage. The information derived from the examinations provides engineering data on nuclear reactor environments, material behavior, and design performance. This data is used to develop new technology and to improve the cost-effectiveness of existing designs.

NRF is seeking a Engineering Training Instructor to perform the following duties:


This position prepares, reviews, conducts, and documents a diverse training program for engineers.


*  Primary duties will be preparation and presentation of training and qualification materials to engineers in areas such as spent nuclear fuel handling, nuclear safety, radiological work, and environmental work.

*  Additional responsibilities include routine training for new engineer employees, continuing training for all current engineers, and situational training on an as-needed basis in support of the engineering department mission.

*  The position requires an ability to qualify as a classroom instructor.  Primary duties are to prepare training presentation lessons plans (outlines) and training presentations from source documents; schedule training events on short and long range training plans, and keep the plans up-to-date; initiate and follow training improvements in facilities, training aids, and adult training methods; maintain documentation of training conducted, and follow employee qualification and training status on departmental databases; and, other duties as assigned by the engineering training manager.


Education/Experience Requirements: BS or BA degree with a GPA/3.2 or higher from an accredited college/university.  Excellent communication and presentation skills to teach a wide variety of topics.  Experience with audio/video equipment and presentation software a plus.  Must be able to maintain training databases, schedules, and individual training records.
