About the Opportunity This position requires the ability to function as a construction support field Engineer (primarialy electrical) for projects engineered through Project Engineering for the Fossil, CT & Hydro Generating Plants. Base reporting point will initially be Sammis, but future assignments could be at any of the Fossil, CT & Hydro Plants. Responsibilities include: 1) Help provide construction cost estimates. 2) Work with the Project Engineer and the Supply Chain to formulate the construction contract and help in the bid / award process. 3) Assure that the contractor is following the company's safety practices. 4) Be at the plant full time as the project installation schedule warrants to act as the company's representative. 5) Be the single point of communication between the contractor and the plant and between the contractor and the design engineer. 6) Handle all facets of construction - receive material, assure construction follows specifications, arrange required inspections, handle change orders, monitor time charges and monitor and report on schedules. 7) Collect asbuilts and turn them in for final revision. 8) Supervise contractor demobilization after job completion. 9) During construction lulls, provide project engineering support at SEMC

Qualifications

Although this position is expected to be mainly for construction support at the river plants (initally Sammis), the candidate must be willing to take on an assignment that would locate them at one of the other plants.

Candidate should have 8 to 12 years of construction / engineering experience. 5 years of construction / engineering experience

The ideal candidate should be well rounded enough to provide construction support in electrical (primary), civil, structural and mechanical.

Candidate should have familiarity with construction scheduling, construction cost estimating, construction contracts, codes and inspections and safety requirements. A good working knowledge of the "trades" is a must.

Candidate must be a self starter and must be able to direct others in a professional and tactful manner while also interfacing with other company employees.
