Field Quality is part of FSL’s Microcontoller Solutions Group (MSG) reporting into its Quality Department. The Quality Department (QD) includes Field Quality, Customer Quality, Software Quality, Reliability, New Product Introduction, and PPAP teams. FSL’s QD is one of the fundamental drivers to ensure customer satisfaction by driving for aggressive cycle times, successful product introductions, and zero defects. The QD interfaces with FSL’s customers, factories (wafer and assembly), and business groups on a daily basis. The MSG QD is located at FSL’s Corporate Headquarters in Austin, Texas. ResponsibilitiesField Quality Engineer (FQE) Job Description- Terre Haute, IN: Serve as the trusted ally and aggressive advocate of the customer for all FSL quality related issues for assigned customers. Customer assignments include: a. TRW On site support for Marshall, IL plant and Corporate support b. Ancillary customer support for miscellaneous customers on as needed basisThe successful candidate must effectively communicate field analysis and FSL results to both the customer and FSL internal Quality & Product Engineering teams. Work effectively with Sales, Field Applications Engineering teams, Customer Quality, and Product Engineering teams. Develop and maintain comprehensive quality metrics and customer scorecard data packages. Manage customer quality data systems that impact FSL performance. Effectively manage customer quality expectations and manage the escalation process when necessary. Successfully coordinate and lead customer quality reviews and drive completion of action items. Aggressively drive effective resolution of all customer quality issues impacting assigned locations. The FQE must be able to assist in performance of Field Failure Verification (FFV) and application/correlation analysis activities at customer location for FSL microcontroller, SmartMOS, and Sensor devices. In particular, the successful candidate must be able to interface between customer and FAE/PE teams by: 1) Providing on site technical support for initial investigation of critical production line, assembly plant and warranty failures. 2) Providing correlation support for microcontroller and SmartMOS failures that are not confirmed as failures at FSL’s factory test site. 3) Document failure duplication procedures and assist FAE/PE teams in developing containment tests for unconfirmed failures. 4) Work with FSL teams and customer to develop special fixturing to aid in the correlation 5) Work with Customer and FSL product engineering teams in New Product Launches as follows: 6) Assist with customer application hardware/software reviews. 7) Assist with customer in-circuit and final test reviews. KnowledgeThe successful candidate must have strong technical analytical & problem solving skills as well as strong interpersonal & communication skills. In addition, occasional travel may be required. The ideal candidate must have at least a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and at least 5 years experience in the semiconductor industry or automotive electronics industry supporting technical applications activity. Experience in Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Design, Failure Analysis, Process Engineering, Device Engineering, and/or Quality Engineering is a plus.
