Arup Fire is seeking to add a staff in our San Francisco office. The successful candidate will play a very active role in the continued development of Arup Fire in the USA and will work closely with many of the world?s leading architects and building owners developing innovative, performance based design solutions for a wide range of building, industrial and transport projects.This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified fire engineer to develop his/her career within one of the leading international fire engineering consultancies in a growing group with a dynamic and diverse work force. The Fire Engineer will: - Prepare Fire Strategy Reports, Alternate Methods of Design - Explain complicated fire safety strategies and prescriptive building code provisions to architects, developers and building officials- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines- Attend meetings with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them- Visit project sites during construction- Work under nominal supervision - Take responsibility for definable parts of a projectRequirements: Experience/Qualifications- Master's degree in Fire Engineering or related field - EIT registration - PE license desired - 3-4 years experience with applying building fire safety codes, preparing fire strategies, and/or reviewing fire safety systems - Some experience with building codes and application of computer based performance based safety design - Knowledge or understanding of Fire CFD or evacuation modeling software such as FDS.Qualities:- Good communication skills, verbal and written essential for team-based working- Excellent planning and organization skills - Must be self motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges - Creative - Must present themselves well in a professional environment - Accept constructive criticismApply Online For our full-time positions, we offer excellent salaries, a progressive environment and a premier benefits package that includes: Full medical, dental, long term disability and life insurance coverage Three weeks' vacation in year one 10% of annual compensation contributed by the company to your retirement plan, up to IRS limits Educational assistance Health club subsidy Paid, comprehensive training programs Team-oriented working environment Business casual dress Arup is an equal opportunity employer.
