GEOLOGIST II SUMMARY: Provide project level interpretation and documentation of geology, hydrogeology, engineering, and task/project management input to projects. Expand department’s capabilities to perform field investigations and remediation projects.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   ·  Assume lead and/or supporting technical roles in assigned projects. ·  Perform analytical and fate and transport interpretations in soil and groundwater. ·  Interrupt data, plan, and write large RCRA Facility Investigation Reports, Remedial Investigation Reports and Feasibility Study Reports ·  Perform large scale field events and Treatability/Pilot Study events. ·  Assist in proposals and marketing. ·  Interrupt analytical and field condition data and write summary reports ·  Writing skills – candidate must have already established writing skills. ·  Review and interpret Federal and State Regulatory requirements and incorporate into project planning and processes to streamline the data collection and review process.   QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in GeoScience or related technical field required; Master’s degree (MA/MS preferred); 3 to 8 years related experience and/or training. Prior experience in groundwater modeling a plus.   OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals. Must be able to use computers to create databases, develop/run interpretation tables, perform geostatistical calculations, evaluate data, and prepare reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills essential.   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current active professional license and/or registration preferred; or the ability to apply for and obtain professional registration/licensing as a professional geologist.   LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures suitable for client submittal. Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public. Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form.   REASONING ABILITY: Ability to evaluate and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   FIELDWORK: Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a project team. Ability to perform strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and weather conditions. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities. Ability to travel to and work at remote project locations for extended periods of time.
