GNC System Engineer

Digital Fusion Solutions, Inc. requires a Spacecraft Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) Engineer to support a developing microsatellite design and fabrication program.  The position requires a thorough knowledge of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems applied to small spacecraft. Responsibilities will include: Taking vague mission needs and developing specific mission and subsystem requirements. Developing ADCS concept designs and demonstrating feasibility of the concept through first order analysis and simulations. Performing detailed analysis and simulation of the ADCS to evaluate effective bandwidth, tune Kalman filters, and assess spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics. Assessing available hardware and completing GNC subsystem design which meets performance specification as well as demanding cost and schedule constraints. Coordinating with other engineering disciplines during design process. Developing algorithms and code for the flight GNC software. Overseeing integration and testing of the ADCS subsystem into the satellite bus. Supporting mission operations and spacecraft anomaly resolution. Presenting results to customers and engineering review boards. Working as part of a small, highly-motivated team under limited supervision of the microsatellite program manager. 

Required: BS degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field plus eight or more years related work experience (less experience with relevant graduate education acceptable). Working knowledge of spacecraft ADCS sensors and actuators. Experience with control systems design. Proficiency with Matlab or C/C++. US citizenship. Must have a current DoD security clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain one.
