HSE Engineer 063-07

Position Description:The position will be provided the opportunity to learn the various Oceaneering operations and the methodology we use to manage HSE. The position will be mentored by the Corporate HSE Director. Specific assignments will begin in our Houston based operations and expand to our various worldwide locations. The person will learn how to provide the technical expertise and HSE resources to the senior management and line managers. The person will learn the role of HSE in the implementation of a comprehensive HSE Management system, which is designed to minimize injuries, reduce exposure to workplace hazards and comply with Company, client and regulatory requirements. The position will learn how to assess an operation and identify the HSE needs, issues, and develop site-specific improvement plans. Develop, implement and monitor corporate HSE policies and management systems and provide feedback to Corporate Steering Committee. Provide the assistance necessary to educate and train the management team, regarding HSE policies and procedures. Support company divisions when assistance is needed. Represent, present and communicate Oceaneering’s HSE Management System, Operating Standards and Company Philosophies to various clients and customers. Assist in the management of the corporate HSE database. Monitor HSE processes and identify areas and means of improvement. In addition to the above mentioned learning the person will be expected to make contributions and handle specific projects commensurable with their experience and education. Within 2 years the person should be ready to re-locate from corporate to an operating region. This position is an entry level – Jr. position with rapid upward growth potential.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:  BS or MS degree preferred in safety or related field.

Experience:  One to five years of HSE experience in oil field, manufacturing or related industry.

Skills & Knowledge:  Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization. Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA and HSE Management Systems. Ability to handle multiple projects, assess priorities and provide technical support to the operating groups. Basic knowledge of the continuous improvement process, ability to work with and support line management to develop and implement practical, proactive injury prevention processes.
