Join ViaSat’s team and help to continue ViaSat’s growth and leadership in the communications field.Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex digital communication systems. The primary focus will be on customer returned units, but may also include units that fail late stages of production testing. Because this requires troubleshooting at the product level and ultimately isolating faults down to the circuit level, the candidate must be able to achieve both a broad understanding of the operational product and a detailed understanding of its circuitry. Candidate must understand industry standard test techniques for cross-functional systems and be able to develop and document a comprehensive repair test approach. These techniques include bed-of-nails test fixtures, boundary scan, functional test, and environmental stress screening. Candidate may be responsible for supervision of 2+ engineering technicians, so some leadership experience is preferred.Experience/Skills Required The successful candidate will have 5+ years experience testing digital communication systems or equivalent is required.  Strong lab test and debug skills are required. Experience must include working knowledge of development tools such as in-circuit emulators, software debuggers, FPGA programmers, and configuration management software. Experience must include working knowledge of test or diagnostic equipment such as boundary scan controllers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DVM, signal generators, soldering irons and specialized test apparatus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Bachelor’s degree required.
