** This position is located at the LSI Red River Army Depot maintenance facility ***High school or equivalent required. Six months actual and recent related experience in the field. Knowledge of and ability to operate such equipment as pneumatic wrenches, electric holster, sledge hammers and hammers, wheelabrator and tumbleblast equipment, etc. Applies a general knowledge of the physical properties of rubber and metal products. Ability to follow established procedures and verbal instructions.Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:Typical shop environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Constant bending, lifting, stooping, reaching and carrying while sitting and standing.This position requires a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Applicants must have Valid State Drivers License.Must be available for any shift. Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.Subject to heavy lifting of up to 75 pounds approximately 50% of the time. Continuous standing, stooping and bending. Requires normal visual acuity, field of vision, depth perception and reaction time.Salary for this position is $13.88per hour. No relocation or Per Diem paid. Job Description : Performs a wide range of duties necessary to major rebuild and reconditioning of solid rubber or semi-solid tires such as steel and aluminum roadwheels. Uses both hand tools and power tools, operates disassembly machines; in extractor, broaching machine, utilized high frequency heat induction units, heated vats containing liquid sodium and potassium nitrate solution, and various vats containing chemicals necessary in removal of rubber materials.1. DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY OF ROADWHEELS AND TRACKBLOCKSa. Removes rubber from roadwheels and tracks, trackblocks, etc., and components thereof through operation of heat induction units, pin extractor units, rubber stripping press, vats containing chemical solution. Disassembles various types of track using hydraulic disassembly machines, pull-apart and denuding machines, hoists, pneumatic wrenches, sledge hammers, crowbars, air hammers. Cleans metal components by operating wheelabrator and tumbleblast equipment; grinds and straightens components through operation of grinding/broaching machines. Segregates salve parts from reclaimable parts by use of "go" and "no go" gages. In all above tasks, starts and stops machines, loads and unloads machines.b. Assembles shoe sections into rolls using equipment such as assembly machine, pneumatic and torque wrenches and hand tools. Stacks assembled track by type for shipping. Performs in-process inspection and accepts or rejects completed component.2. IN-PROCESS INSPECTIONInspects components, while work is in progress, for defects such as enlarged bolt holes, cracks in metal, bent rims, excessive wear on center guides. Inspects assembled components for proper assembly or damage. Refers findings to supervisor or full journeyman worker for final decision in questionable areas.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualified candidates must apply online to be considered for a position.
