Education and Experience Requirement

College degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 5-10 years experience, or 10 years applicable work experience.  Must have manufacturing experience,

 

Skills RequiredAbility to interface with customers and apply customer concepts or blueprints to a manufacturing method or determine manufacturing feasibility.  Considerable knowledge and experience in metal/machine shop techniques. Experienced in using an ERP system, CAD program, Word and Excel.  Ability to design parts using CAD. Ability to read, understand and explain schematics, blueprints and/or technical manuals.Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules. Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Minimum Job Requirements Physical- Capable of some bending and lifting (25 pounds). Working Hours- fulltime (40+ hrs/week) employmentPersonal Traits- Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and safety attitude. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with various department personnel and supervisors. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot. 



Level of Responsibility and Authority

Responsible for design of assigned manufacturing processes. Authority to directly discuss with customers or potential customers the manufacturability of products. Approval authority for manufacturing processes. Authority as granted by Production Manager or General Manager to manage various ad hoc projects.

 

Job FunctionsInterface with customers and apply customer concepts or blueprints to a manufacturing method or determine manufacturing feasibility.Manage entire PPAP process within project scope.Write and maintain bills of material and routings in the manufacturing system.Work closely with Production Manager and Quality Manager to ensure ISO and continuous improvement objectives and requirements are met.Closely work with Production Manager to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules for all new products and processes. Determine tooling needs and capital requirements, and work with supervisors and vendors to acquire appropriate tools for new or existing products.Coordinate the purchase and manufacturing of tooling and fixtures.  Perform job functions in a safe way and ensure that designed processes are safe. Ensure statutory, regulatory and environmental regulations are taken into account and addressed on projects owned. Attend and contribute at management meetings. Track and document cost and time in new projects as appropriate.Write work instructions as appropriate.Ensure ISO quality system and safety procedures are followed. Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
