Industrial Hygienist (Bilingual)

EG&G is searching for a Bilingual (Spanish) Industrial Hygienist to provide technical support to our NIOSH client in the area of Global Silicosis in Cincinnati, OH.MS degree in Industrial Hygiene with demonstrated proficiency in at least one engineering discipline with basic understanding of the principles of occupational safety and health and experience/knowledge in the area of silicosis. US Citizenship, fluency in Spanish and the ability to travel internationally is a requirement of the position.Must have proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems (WAN, XP) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) is preferred. Candidate must possess exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills to be successful in interacting with high-level personnel and stakeholders (engineers, architects [and other designers], occupational safety and health experts, academic and NIOSH researchers, government officials, and business leaders who are stakeholders and partners of the NIOSH Prevention through Design National Initiative). Must have the ability to support several projects simultaneously, coordinating with separate teams for each project. Must be able to pass and maintain a security clearance. Job Description : This position will provide the scientific and public health expertise and effort necessary to support a major science initiative within NIOSH called the Global Program to Eliminate Silicosis. This effort will achieve the goal of safe and healthy workplaces in developing countries by incorporating effective risk management and engineering control practices into facilities and processes with the objective of reducing workplace exposure to silica and reducing the incidence of silicosis. The program will leverage existing successes and relationships established in Chile and other parts of South America. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and delivering training workshops; planning and conducting demonstration projects in collaboration with country partners; interfacing with WHO Collaborating Centers to deliver training on Silicosis Elimination; Control Banding; exposure assessment; and control technologies. The program leader will also use WHO and ILO tools, such as the Control Banding Tool Kit. The incumbent will work with and receive direction from senior NIOSH staff and will work with key personnel to develop a strategy for the global program to continue over the next five years. The incumbent will have interactions with a senior NIOSH resource currently in Cairo, Egypt, to develop a similar strategy for the Middle East/Africa region. The position is within the Document Development Branch, Education and Information Division.
