Instructional Course Designer

INSTRUCTIONAL COURSE DESIGNER, Human Resources, to use a variety of learning methods to develop role-based, interdisciplinary training curricula designed to result in improved work performance of MIT staff. The initial focus will be on research administration and financial management. Will clarify needs, review existing courses, and identify gaps and translate them into effective learning solutions; collaborate with subject matter experts in designated areas of MIT to contextualize content to MIT and tie curriculum to MIT's job families and existing role descriptions; develop materials, prepare program instructors, develop evaluation and measurement tools, develop plan for updating, and develop tools to evaluate programs; and lead process to gather input from key stakeholders to prioritize additional programs.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree and five to seven years' experience developing curriculum in organizational settings, preferably curriculum involving financial and research administration. A master's (M.Ed., instructional design) is preferred, but extensive experience designing and implementing successful learning and development programs may substitute. Must have demonstrated experience developing learning programs that incorporate sound principles of instructional design and adult learning theory; developing programs that incorporate a variety of approaches to learning; working closely with subject matter experts to develop training curricula; working collaboratively as a member of a team; developing clear, easy-to-use, and adaptable participant materials and instructor's guides; facilitating cross-functional groups; and managing competing projects and priorities with minimal supervision. Experience working in an academic environment strongly preferred. Familiarity with e-learning methodologies and tools preferred. Exceptional written and verbal interpersonal communication skills and excellent prioritization and organizational skills needed.
