Instrument & Control Technician

Incumbent must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent + 6 years experience instrument and control work (specialized education or Vo-Tech training, military, or apprenticeship may substitute for experience). In addition, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate good technical knowledge of plant and system processes. The incumbent must possess knowledge of functional systems interactions and must be able to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment. Must be able to acknowledge and respond to flashing lights and sirens and be able to don a protective mask and evacuate up to 2 miles in an expeditious manner.CPRPThis position is unique because it requires enrollment in the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP). In order to be eligible for enrollment, the government will conduct a comprehensive background investigation on selected candidates. Some of the items which could potentially eliminate candidates from consideration for the CPRP are:* A criminal record, to include arrests and convictions* Alcohol abuse or dependence or any alcohol-related offenses* Use of illegal drugs or misuse of legal drugs* United States citizenship * Financial issues, especially bankruptcy or debts in arrears, but also failure to meet alimony or child support obligations* Participation in hypnosis* Attempted suicide* Evidence of negligence, delinquency or poor performance in prior jobsAbility to qualify for and remain qualified for enrollment in the CPRP is a condition of employment. Job Description : Nonexempt Level 7Supports Maintenance by performing a variety of instrument and control trade functions in limited and chemical exclusion areas for a 24-hour chemical demilitarization operation including the installation, maintenance, repair or adjustment on facility indicating, recording, telemeters, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments. Interprets designs, drawings, layouts, instructions, and specifications in compliance with the TOCDF specifications and industry standards. Calibrates instruments.
