Explore the opportunity of world-changing work available to you below.CH2M HILL is searching for an Instrument Operator to join their Survey Group in the Durango, CO office.Key Duties:• Operates survey equipment (i.e., transit, level, GPS, theodolites, data collector, distance meter, ranger, chain, electrotope, telurometer).• Calculates angles and distances for points to be set; learns basic field calculations and procedures.• Sets reference stakes for construction layout or boundary designation.• Sees that equipment is safely loaded, unloaded and stored each working day.• Sets up equipment in field.• Prepares supplies needed for a survey job.• Makes copies of field notes and reports.• Keeps survey vehicles clean and organized and in proper working order.• Trains rod operator in duties and in the basic use of instruments.• Cleans instruments; may make minor adjustments; reports all malfunctions immediately to supervisor.• Keeps neat accurate survey field notes.Qualifications• High school or vocational/technical training preferred.• Specialized vocational training in survey technology• At least 1 year of survey work experience• Ability to operate, adjust and maintain assigned equipment, i.e. theodolite, GPS, data collector, level, electronic distance meter, calculator• Ability to precisely turn and read angular measurements; accurately point and read electronic equipment; give precise rod readings; learn basic field calculations• Familiarity with sets, repetitions, acceptable tolerance, 3-wire levels• Ability to work well with a group• Ability to keep neat accurate survey field notesBenefits: Medical and Dental Plans Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance Short Term and Long Term Disability Income 401(k) Plan with company match Employee Ownership Paid Time Off Program Flexible Work Scheduling Business Casual Dress Learning and Development Opportunities Tuition ReimbursementEmployee Assistance Program Voluntary Auto and Homeowners InsuranceCompany Profile:Employee-owned CH2M HILL is a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction and operations for public and private clients.
