Junior Research Analyst/Research Analyst - Supply Chain Management

McKinsey & Company Inc., a leading international management consulting firm, is currently recruiting a Junior Research Analyst or Research Analyst for its Supply Chain Management Practice.  The researcher will be located in the North American Knowledge Center (“NAKC”) in Waltham (20 minutes outside of Boston, MA).  

We are seeking a creative and energetic professional with strong problem-solving, communication, analytical and organizational skills to be part of our Research and Information (“R&I”) team. 

 

This individual will support McKinsey consultants in the area of supply chain by collecting, summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing information that helps solve specific business problems.  The analyst will also assist with practice research and clientele development research activities.

The Supply Chain Management Practice helps clients enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their supply chain operations with the goal of achieving superior customer service with minimal total cost. The Practice focuses on a number of issues such as supply chain strategy, global production footprint, forecasting, inventory management, transport/logistics and distribution network configuration, among others.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

·         Working with consulting teams to articulate, scope, and prioritize their research needs

·         Determining the most appropriate, cost-effective, and timely research solutions to meet the team’s needs

·         Efficiently gathering necessary raw information and partnering with Research & Information (“R&I”) colleagues to leverage full range of internal/external sources

·         Organizing, analyzing, and synthesizing facts into targeted, formatted end products (e.g., exhibits, summaries, basic fact packs, and spreadsheets)

 

NOTE: Although quantitative skills are required, the position is qualitative in nature. The job does not involve modeling, simulation or optimization activities.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

·         Strong problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills

·         Inquisitive, investigative nature (an interest in supply chain topics is helpful)

·         Good written and verbal communication skills

·         Demonstrated research experience in an academic or business setting

·         Understanding of general business concepts and terminology (experience with operations and supply chain concepts especially relevant)

·         Professional attitude and service orientation

·         Strong IT skills, including high levels of proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint

·         Strong multi-tasking abilities

·         An undergraduate degree from a respected institution and record of strong academic achievement
