MECHANICAL ENGINEER VI (46823)

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible mechanical engineering experience, including experience in one or more of the following areas: large scale facility design and construction, design, redesign, or retrofit of mechanical system/equipment. Two years experience in rapid rail transit. A Master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience.


BASIC FUNCTIONS: Designs and/or reviews and comments on the most complex designs for mechanical systems involving facilities construction, expansion of current sites, retro-fittings, and additions. Investigates, identifies, and develops resolutions to a wide range of highly complex mechanical problems as they affect rail equipment, systems, and facilities. Recommends alternative methods and/or equipment to improve safety, maintainability, reliability, and cost effectiveness of the diverse and complex systems in the MARTA transit system. Proficiency in using AutoCad necessary.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Georgia, or the ability to obtain Georgia registration within six months is required.
