Manager, Operations Standards Division

 

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bistate public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York/New Jersey region. We currently have two openings for a Manager of Operations Standards Division.

 

The Operations Standards Division is composed of a group of Industrial Engineers that provides internal management consulting services to PA senior executive management, line and staff departments in the following areas – analysis of administrative, operations, maintenance, security, public safety, engineering, technology and financial functions; asset management support; organizational analysis and restructuring; staffing and scheduling analysis; simulation of existing and planned operations; feasibility analysis; process reengineering; change management and integration; technology assessment and deployment; performance measurement; RFP and contract development; outsourcing assessment; benchmarking analysis; and value planning and engineering support.

 

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Manager will be responsible for supervising the professionals in this Division in conducting a wide range of Industrial Engineering consulting projects to assist the agency in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of current and proposed functions.

 Responsibilities:

 Develop an annual work plan for the Division composed of potential high priority and high impact Industrial Engineering projects through discussions with senior executive management.Manage the allocation of multiple projects to Industrial Engineers in the Division based on priorities established in the annual work plan.Directly oversee Industrial Engineers in the Division in conducting a wide variety of Industrial Engineering projects.Lead Industrial Engineers in the Division on complex and high priority Industrial Engineering consulting projects, as needed.Oversee management consultants from external organizations that may be retained, on an as-needed basis, to conduct certain Industrial Engineering projects.Manage the delivery of high quality projects that are within budget and are composed of innovative and practical solutions.

Requirements:

 Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Operations Research or Engineering Management Systems from a reputable University.  Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with focus in Operations Management or Management Science will also be considered.10 years of demonstrated experience in managing an Industrial Engineering management consulting function in a comparable organization.Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate highly qualified professional staff. Demonstrated problem solving and influence skills.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills with experience interacting with all levels of internal staff and peers from external organizations.  Proficiency in computer applications.
