The role of Environmental Engineer (EE) is to serve as a key leader in the development and implementation of initiatives and programs to assure:Compliance to Diageo standards and applicable regulatory requirements, Creation of a culture of environmental awareness and local action to support global commitments The Environmental Engineer must make decisions based on experience, system knowledge, and the understanding of the complex Regulatory and Company requirements. These decisions include:Strategic planning for facility compliance to internal and external environmental requirements. Capital expenditure authority re: the design and execution of equipment/facility changes/additions/and equipment purchases to assure environmental compliance and leadership Consult with plants on matters regarding compliance and regulatory applications to maximize synergiesThe EE leads the Conversion sites in:Establishing a credible baseline of our carbon footprint and implementation of subsequent monitoring systems Creating and implementing effective and innovative programs to reduce our carbon footprintReporting Environmental impact status to appropriate governmental agencies/authorities/Diageo HQSupporting the Plant Risk Managers in the negotiation of any fines or assessments The EE has direct responsibility to:Provide environmental leadership and direction to Conversion facilitiesDrive identification, prioritization and resolution interactions with Conversion sitesCommunicate with Senior Management Manage time and resources to assure plants receive appropriate levels of supportThe EE serves as THE go-to person on matters of Environmental compliance, culture, and conditions within the US and Canada. North America has one of, if not the most complex and highly governmentally regulated systems in the world the degree of complexity is very high. This person must be know the federal requirements and be aware of most local regulatory requirements to serve North America well. Additionally, this person must interact and achieve results through others who do not report directly to them and who may be dealing with competing agendas.Responsible for:Leading a transformational change within the organization regarding environmental decisions and actions (air, water, waste, GHG, energy)Implementing management systems and processes to assure compliance to regulatory and company requirementsCreating sound programs, tools, systems, and initiatives to assure complianceSupporting the Plant Risk Managers in the continuous improvement of their operationsSupport Plant Risk managers in the negotiation of any fines or assessments levied by regulatory officialsSharing successful practices across plants in the Americas and with global counterpartsDevelopment and execution of needed training to drive necessary culture changesQualifications***MUST HAVE*** Minimum: Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering or sciences, Technical, or Science discipline ***MUST HAVE*** 7 10 years significant environmental leadership experience (preferably in manufacturing of a consumer products company)***MUST HAVE*** 5 7 years of air and effluent permitting and compliance (Title V) experienceDiageo is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to equal, fair, and non-discriminatory treatment of all employees as well as candidates for employment.
