Marine Designer

Description:- Coordinate design criteria with engineers in support of ship design and modification tasks.- Gather information, conduct studies and perform calculations; prepare original rough layouts, sketches, manufacturing aids and installation drawings to present design proposal.- Develop design models/drawings according to engineering diagrams and ship specifications. - Assist in performing ship inspections and surveys.- Provide customer and shipyard construction support with problem resolution and clarification when needed.- Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate construction. - Develop installation details and parts lists.- Maintain and modify company drawing standards and formats and maintain drafting files.- Plan and conduct various assigned projects.Qualifications:Basic:- Associate Degree in engineering with 7+ years experience in shipbuilding/Marine Design, or 10 + years experience in a Shipbuilding/Marine Design environment in lieu of a degree.- Experience with AutoCAD. - Domestic and International travel required (up to 10%).- US citizenship required.- Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.Preferred:- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.- Familiar with ships and ship systems.- Ability to prepare weight and center of gravity calculations.- Ability to work under general supervision and to verify accuracy and completeness of finished drawings.- Experience with Solid Works or other 3D CAD programs.- Interest in and knowledge of graphic arts and related software, including Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or similar.- Ability to supervise marine drafters and provide guidance to them on drafting, AutoCAD and ship and ship systems.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceIn addition to competitive pay and bonus programs, Rolls-Royce offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and tuition reimbursement, among many others.Job Location: Essex, CTJob Number: RUSARRCORP130-595128Company URL: http://www.rolls-royce.com/careersCompany Profile:People.
