Alliant Techsystems (ATK)-Tactical Propulsion and Controls has a challenging opportunity for a Materials Engineer in Elkton, MD. This Division of ATK specializes in the production of tactical propulsion systems and composite metal structures. The Materials Engineer will analyze, recommend, and develop material solutions for solid rocket motors with a particular emphasis on adhesives, elastomers, high temperature composites, and ceramics. The incumbent will characterize properties of vendor supplied and in-house developed materials to include chemical and physical analyses. The Materials Engineer will troubleshoot material related problems both in-house and at vendors. Requirements: BSME is required with up to 3 years of experience. Background in composite and/or polymer science is preferred. Must have exemplary communications skills. Candidates must have a team player spirit with the ability to perform independent research. Candidates should have strong engineering and interpersonal skills necessary to lead a team to develop or Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
