This position is responsible for leading the Direct Material Productivity (DMP) initiative at our client’s Steam Turbine Power Generation facility which is focused on reducing costs of the gas turbine parts throughout the world. The position will be located at our client’s location in Schenectady, NY. The DMP leader will work with the other Energy business functions (Sourcing, Manufacturing, & Finance) to assure DMP projects are identified and brought to closure, documented with accurate savings. All of these projects are to be implemented with no impact to customer cost of quality.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:Analysis of projects, procedures, and organizational structure Development of guidelines and procedures for defining value engineering effort Recommendations on structuring and managing a value engineering program within the organization Development of a Value Engineering Program Guidance Manual, which describes VE program management, procedures to augment existing project management procedures, and VE study management procedures Recommendations and tailored plans for implementing VE on ongoing projects as well as projects in the long-term capital improvement plan Training on how to use the guidelines provided in the Value Engineering Program Guidance Manual

Requirements:Bachelors of Science in Engineering preferably in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering 1 - 5 additional years of experience in a quality control, improvement, or engineering role that provided leadership about the quality and efficiency of an operation or manufacturing facility.

Position Details:Previously held technical/leadership positions in positions such as Value Engineering, manufacturing Engineering and/or TQM is preferred. Six Sigma or ISO Quality certification preferred. Proven understanding of the manufacturing, assembly, test processes and equipment/facilities capabilities/requirements of the organization. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
