Mechanical Engineer 6

CDM is looking for a senior engineer who has experience managing and completing the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems for technically challenging facility design projects. This is an opportunity to establish a new mechanical team in a CDM design center. Self perform the work and add staff as the workload grows. Your responsibilities with CDM will include:
• Design and manage the design of complex building mechanical systems as the responsible engineer
• Work with all CDM disciplines to solve unique and technically challenging problems involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning, boilers, chillers, controls, and other mechanical systems and equipment
• Participate in the growth of the building mechanical group for CDM by working with internal and external clients
• Act as the lead engineer and grow the group to 3-4 mechanical engineers
• Prepare and check engineering calculations, including heat loads, ventilation and energy calculations
• Direct and prepare plans and specifications for bidding and construction
• Initiate and participate in project coordination with the electrical, structural, process, instrumentation and architectural disciplines
• Direct and prepare engineering studies and reports
• Direct and prepare energy conservation studies, energy modeling and energy audits for commercial and industrial clients
• Work with clients and project managers to identify projects for the building mechanical team and prepare proposals for the projects

 

 

The minimum requirements of this position with CDM are:
• BSME
• A minimum of 12 years of experience
• PE Required
• Experience leading HVAC and/or plumbing and fire protection designs for water/wastewater, semiconductor, biopharmaceutical and/or other technically complex industrial projects
• Experience leading mechanical engineering teams
• Experience working directly with clients to document project scope
• Ability to generate and understand P&ID's
• Familiar with NFPA Standards and Building Codes
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• MS office suite skills required
• Must be able to open and manipulate AutoCAD files.
• Microstation skills desired
• LEED and CEM credentials desired

• Mentor and advise junior and mid level engineers
• Review the work of other engineers
• Collaborate with the members of your team and others in CDM
• Come up with innovative to solutions to unique engineering problems
• Work with clients to troubleshoot operational problems
• Be able to prioritize and work on multiple assignments concurrently
• Delegate and manage engineering and drafting assignments
• Observe deadlines and budgets
• Complete administrative tasks as assigned
• Contribute to successful marketing efforts by writing project scopes, and participating in client interviews.
• Become a subject matter expert, and write technical reports for internal and external publication.
• Actively participate in the local ASHRAE chapter, or other professional organization.
