Mechanical Engineer - Robotics

In response to our growth, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our product development needs. In this capacity, you’ll play a strategic role in helping us achieve its goals.  Primary focus of the position will be development of innovative mechanical sub-systems for robotic platforms and advanced sensory attachments. This will encompass design, integration and extensive prototype testing, progressing to full technical data packages for product release.

 
Responsibilities:

1. Plan and direct accomplishment of product and mechanical engineering objectives.

2. Design innovative and robust mechanical sub-systems, mobility modules, advanced sensory attachments and various other assemblies for challenging environments.

3. Validate designs through calculations, analysis/simulation and lab testing.

4. Provide hands-on prototyping, testing and debugging support during early prototype stages of the product.

5. Develop scalable and re-useable designs and architecture for use across multiple product lines.

6. Develop detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs and support development of all required documentation prior to product release.

7. Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and performance of released products.

8. Prepare for and participate in design reviews, confer with other product team members, and develop reports, as needed, to show that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines.

9. Accomplish goals efficiently and provide cost-effective solutions.

10.  Provide technical guidance and ensure sound mechanical engineering procedures and effective use of facilities.

11.  Report to the Product Manager and work closely with dynamic, multi-disciplinary product teams to develop optimized solutions that meet the product requirements.




Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

2. 0-5 years experience in mechanical design and engineering.

3. Must be well versed in use of at least one 3-D modeling software, preferably Solidworks.

4. Demonstrated ability to prepare design analyses and review and prepare mechanical drawings.

5. Hands-on prototyping and debugging experience required.

6. Excellent technical and conceptual skills.

7. Robotics experience preferred.
