Job Description Mechanical Engineers Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.Understands the basic discipline work processes. Performs engineering tasks, within a discipline, having a minor degree of complexity. Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from suppliers. Familiar with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides. Design plant equipment for a variety of oil, gas and chemical applications, including chemical, refinery and LNG processes. Prepare equipment specifications, perform design calculations, and develop conceptual equipment design sketches. Prepare material requisitions and mechanical data sheets for specialized turbomachinery equipment. Develop technical bid evaluations including supplier?s comments and exceptions to contract technical documents; and review supplier?s drawing and data documentation for compliance with project specifications. Evaluate, select, apply and adapt mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Assist with preparation of project forecasts schedules, quantity take-offs, change orders, cost and quantity estimates. Witness mechanical run tests of turbomachinery equipment and evaluate rotordynamic/thermodynamic performance based on industry or project standards. Travel to client and manufacturing sites required.
