The position requires the ability to function as the technical lead for mechanical equipment maintenance, repairs, and modifications. Responsibilities include condition-assessment and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment such as pumps, turbines, air-heaters, boilers, economizers, fly-ash systems, air-compressors, induced and forced fans, sootblowers, etc. and their ancillary components such as bearings, piping, valves, heat-exchangers etc. Development and execution of both short and long term equipment planning for this equipment to meet safety, environmental, reliability, and efficiency goals established at the Eastlake Plant are also a key responsibility of the position. This individual is required to possess, or quickly develop, knowledge of all the dynamics associated with the operation, predictive diagnostic data gathering, and reliability-centered maintenance practices that would impact the safe, environmentally-compliant, reliable, and efficient operation of this equipment. This individual will assist with solving operational hurdles that can be addressed with proper planning and execution of planned-outage work and/or projects to correct inefficiencies. Additional duties include preparing financial justifications, budgeting, schedule performance, and documentation of projects. This person will coordinate activities of other technical group personnel that may be assigned for the purpose of routine, project, and emergency issues and across all technical disciplines and will represent and report on issues for the assigned area. This individual will further provide coverage for unit and equipment outages, both planned and forced. Such assignments may include back shift and weekend schedules.
Qualifications
Required
A 2 - year Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience including a minimum of 11 years of Power Plant or job-related experience for the Advanced Generation Specialist ( a minimum of 15 years of experience for the Senior position).
The individual must conduct research and begin to improve work processes, analyze data and begin to develop/recommend solutions, anticipate needs/accept ownership, contribute to solutions, and possess job knowledge and maturity.
This individual must demonstrate ability to identify equipment failure mechanisms, root cause, short-term corrective measures and long-term action needed to minimize the impacts to generation.
Must possess an aptitude for proactive vs. reactive approach toward equipment reliability. -Required to be able to, with training, supervise the application of testing and interpret the results.
Exceptional ability to communicate ideas to both management and craft personnel and the ability to carry the ideas through implementation is required.
The person must be able to safely perform equipment inspections using Personal Protective Equipment, as needed, in a confined space, or on scaffolding.
The ability and willingness to respond to Plant emergencies within one-hour is a job requirement.
