We currently have an opportunity for a Natural Resources (NR) Team Lead for our Boston, MA office. Description: This senior consultant position will provide interdisciplinary technical leadership for environmental/ecological assessments (natural/biological resources emphasis) and related regulatory compliance, and team leadership for directing, managing, and mentoring a multidisciplinary NR team consisting of environmental scientists, biologists, and planners. Using a team-based and performance-driven approach, the successful candidate will lead all aspects of technical oversight, building and managing a group of professionals, and growing the natural/biological resources practice. Technical responsibilities include, but not limited to: project development (i.e., scopes of work and pricing), quality management of work processes and products (i.e., field study design and application, data collection and statistical methods/analysis, information synthesis and interpretations, senior peer review and biological consultation), ecological assessment and/or land use-related environmental impact analysis for resource management planning and/or regulatory compliance, client-agency liaison for applicable permitting processes and documentation, and strategic technical selling to develop business opportunities and client relationships. Management/supervisory responsibilities include, but not limited: strategic management process (i.e, assessment, planning, and implementation), project planning and management (i.e., scope, schedule, budget, and quality), subject matter expert and client service management, and team leadership and performance management (i.e., team building and visibility, staff management and mentoring, resource capacity management and skill alignment, core competencies development and technical training, time-sold and workload management, safety and productivity). As part of the administrative management function, the successful candidate should understand, implement, monitor, and support organizational policies and procedures. Requirements: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in applicable field (biology, ecology, natural resources, or closely related environmental sciences), with strong background in terrestrial and/or aquatic ecology and natural resources policy and planning. 10-15 years of progressively responsible professional experience; minimum of 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience for project and people management; direct experience in private sector or environmental consulting in Northeastern States. Demonstrated experience in project development (i.e., proposal preparation and presentation), project and tasks management (emphasis on natural resources and/or biological resources), team leadership and people management (i.e., lead, direct, motivate, and train), client interactions and business development, and best business practices (incl. financial management) are essential. Comprehensive knowledge of biological science and ecological methodology, species-habitat conservation planning, and natural/biological resources management; extensive experience in terrestrial and/or aquatic ecosystems (specialty in Northeastern or New England-specific species and habitats) and the ability to work in multiple land use types and spatial scales; significant experience in environmental impact assessments and mitigation and monitoring plans to meet regulatory requirements (i.e., NEPA, ESA, CWA, and other Federal/State laws, regulations, and policies) and multi-agency permitting. Publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of research results at scientific meetings are desired. Strong skills in work group leadership and interpersonal communication, organizing and planning, strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving, proposal and report writing and editing; exceptional attention to details (without losing sight of the big picture) and work processes; manage multiple tasks and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines and with a diverse, multidisciplinary team; proven commitment to team/project performance (i.e., technical quality, budget and schedule, health and safety), risk and change management, client/project team satisfaction, and continuous improvement through a learning culture.
