Network Design Engineer

As a single source provider for complete networking requirements, we focus on a wide range of specialty areas including core networking, IP telephony, and network security, advanced wireless infrastructure, storage networks and Microsoft enterprise solutions.  We are currently seeking a Network Design Engineer to join our team. Qualified applicants should possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications needed:

·  BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or the equivalent level of industry experience

·  5+ years experience with: 

o Cisco Network Routers, Switches, and Wireless Access points

o Physical infrastructure standards (EIA/TIA)

o Solid knowledge of IOS command set

o Practical, hands on experience with 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet

o Practical hands on experience with Fiber Optic and Unshielded Twisted Pair installations

o Network traffic analysis using network tracing tools such as NetMon, Wildpacket’s Etherpeek and Airopeek (or equivalent)

·  Candidate has practical working experience with these technologies in a production environment including development and testing, management/administration, and support/troubleshooting

·  Candidate must have excellent technical writing skills and the desire to create detailed documents

·  Candidate must be professional, flexible, and able to work in a team atmosphere

Experiences that are a plus:

·  Cisco’s Controller based Wireless Technologies (4000 series)

·  Symbol Handheld Wireless Terminals and Clients

·  Wireless terminals in a manufacturing environment (such as fork truck installations)

·  Experience in a manufacturing environment, and large enterprise environments

·  Candidates should have experience with network and solutions design integration in a corporate environment and be involved with implementation and support

Responsibilities

·  Familiarize yourself with standards and installation documentation to pattern new standards documentation

·  Develop, test, document, and install a Layer 3 core Network device, involving the following:

o IP address space layout

o Level of redundancy required

o Cisco 3750 core design

o High level physical and logical documentation

·  Travel required: approximatley 35%
