On-board Diagnostic Systems Engineer

We currently have an opening for an On-board Diagnostic Systems Engineer in Columbus, IN. On-board Diagnostics Systems EngineerRESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and support new and existing engine control designs and identify system interactions, related diagnostics and failure effects. Background and experience in electronic systems, including mixed signal (analog and digital) operation; Matlab/Simulink; digital design concepts; control algorithm designs; adaptive control systems; and ANSI-C software language. This position will support diagnostics development for automotive engine products. Specific responsibilities include: * Review regulations and assist in definition of internal On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) requirements.* Perform gap analysis for new European, California Air Resources Board and EPA OBD regulations.* Work with subsystem and engine development groups to clarify requirements.* Coordinate across project teams to develop common approaches.* Develop on board diagnostics.* Work with functional development groups to develop diagnostic concepts. * Design diagnostic algorithms.* Document algorithms in appropriate format.* Develop calibration development procedures using Six Sigma principles including DOE (Design of Experiment).* Lead cross-functional reviews of the procedures.* Perform analysis and testing to validate algorithm and identify "good" and "bad" system performance.* Lead and support various reviews and submit required documentation.* Create OBD validation plans.* Develop plans for vehicle validation of OBD system.* Lead development and publication of test reports.* Monitor progress of field test vehicles and support troubleshooting activities.* Support OBD certification.* Assist in creation of certification package.* Ensure required demonstration and evaluation tests are performed for assigned diagnostics.* Support internal and cross-functional reviews.* Respond to questions from regulators as required. Qualifications:* MS or PhD in electrical engineering minimum.* Education or equivalent experience with engine controls and performance.* Control algorithm development experience with MATLAB/SIMULINK.* Ability to design experiments and analyze resulting data to identify relationships between sensed parameters and system health/performance.* Familiarity with SAE J1939 datalink standards.* Familiarity with DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System, a database program) requirements analysis tool desired.* Desire experience with Six Sigma (DFSS or DMAIC) tools, specifically Design of Experiments, tolerance analysis, etc. (DMAIC - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control)* Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
