Operation Manager

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Manager for our Lakewood, CO office. The Operations Manager (OM) is the key position for success of an office. While responsible for implementing the company’s policies and procedures, the OM is also a key player in winning and executing work, and ensuring the office staff are directed and led for success. The OM can have a varied background but is typically a scientist or engineer with experience in one or more fields of practice (i.e. scientific investigations, engineering design or construction management) and is supported by the company’s matrix system in various assignments. The OM reports to either the Eastern or Western VP of Consulting & Engineering and is the local discipline lead for project and program management activities. Specific responsibilities are dependent on the local office staffing, project load, and market conditions. However, the general responsibilities for the Denver office are: 1. Provide leadership and a vision for the office by being the lead decision maker. 2. Mentor PMs and direct reports. 3. Ensure proper execution of the projects in the office, including project reviews, financial performance and compliance with company procedures. 4. In conjunction with the marketing, sales and business development team, develop and execute business plans to win work in the local market and support national business development efforts. 5. Help identify potential new employees for recruiting to support the work in the office and assist in the development of specific retention plans for staff. 6. Assist the science, engineering, IT, and Project support services departments in managing their work load and staff. 7. Manage office overhead and business development budgets 8. Understand and lead the implementation the company’s ESQ philosophy. 9. Participate in inter-company teams to win and execute work, specifically with the other Tetra Tech entities in the local region. 10. Provide direct oversight and supervision of the office administrative staff and Seller-Doers 11. Identify and select project managers to manage projects booked in the local office. 12. Monitor cash flow in the office by ensuring timely invoicing and tracking AP. The OM job requires focus, attention to detail and an interest in outreach both to the staff and to the customers. It is demanding, but it also is extremely rewarding, both professionally and personally. The Denver office team is very dynamic, and work well together keeping our clients very satisfied.
