PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

We are currently looking for a Project Accountant to work in our Fairfax, VA office.   

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 The administration of the project costing systemHigh volume of data entry transactionsOversight of job set up: proper application of daily transactions within the cost system, and closing of completed jobsMonthly Project Reviews with Project Managers to verify budgets and costs to dateDevelopment of useful reporting and/or query tools to assist management in the understanding and interpretation of employee utilization and financial information by projectCoordinating the closing process:  including oversight of account reconciliation, journal entries, closing of modules and assistance in financial statement preparation and more. Development of new project ideas along with communicating them to project managers as needed

 

Qualifications:

 

· Self-motivated team player

· Excellent organizational skills

· Strong Excel skills are required.

· Strong Analytical skills for job costing

· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills

· 4-5 years of progressively challenging roles and experience with demonstrated responsibility for job costs accounting, reporting, account reconciliations and balance sheet clean up

· Must understand contract accounting: the differences in revenue recognition methodologies, including percentage of completion, and should have experience generating and reviewing financial statements

· Must be able to review postings from the accounts payable, accounts receivable, flexible billings or cash modules, and intuitively know how they should affect the general ledger and financial statements

· Experience with Solomon / Dynamics accounting software and FRX report writing software is preferred, but not essential.
