PROJECT ENGINEER - PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Our client is a leader in global packaging systems and has an immediate opening for a project manager who can take part in new product development and design as well.  Incumbent is responsible for advanced applications of present technology to achieve critical business goals, and for leading & coordinating expert technical resources on improvements, design, and technology applications.  This position will be recognized for expertise within location and across the business unit and for competent design of & integration of related technologies.  The goals and objectives are defined by management.  Methodology and procedures require imaginative approaches across a broader spectrum of opportunities.  The candidate provides leadership in implementation of known technology and provides direction for implementation.  The candidate also provides the top “in-house” level of expertise on implemented technology.  The candidate will plan strategic technology improvements based on management & corporate direction.  This position requires imaginative approaches, to technically resolve a broad range of current problems & understanding of the interactions between various processes.

·  Timely execution of technology design projects supporting continuous improvement and competitive advantage, i.e., reliability, maintainability and quality.

·  Support and/or deliver training and/or documentation for effective technology transfer.

 

·  Accountable for delivering new technologies, products, and processes.

 

The candidate must be a self-started leader with the ability to drive the technical portion of development projects.  The candidate must also have experience demonstrating success in leading team members, working with cross-functional teams, leading & managing programs with outside organizations, and the ability to coordinate work with internal departments & resources that do not report directly to them.  The candidate must demonstrate that previous work experiences have obtained results that directly benefited the organization’s bottom line.

·  B.S./MS in Mechanical Engineering (MS highly preferred) and approximately seven years related experience; or advanced degree in appropriate technical discipline and approximately four years related experience.

·  Experience in plastics or polymers, injection molding experience a plus. 

·  Good computer skills and proficiency in 3D CAD software; also, ProE expertise is highly desirable.

·  Demonstrated ability to interpret Engineering Analysis results utilizing FEA (finite element analysis) mathematical models, etc.  Experience in integrating analysis results into the product development process.  Demonstrated proficiency with analytical skills consistent with an Engineering degree.

·  Competency demonstrated through past results utilizing Multivariable Analysis & Design of Experiments.  Demonstrated ability to develop the technical and technological development plans necessary to solve customer problems and execute on-time product development.

·  Share technical expertise with peers to promote their personal development and broaden the department’s technical expertise.

·  Effective “system” root cause resolution of customer technology & design-related complaints.
