Payload Systems Design Engineer/Satellite Communications

As a Payload Systems Design Engineer, your primary role will include designing, developing, analyzing and completing performance verification of some of the most advanced satellite communications systems in the industry. You will act as a responsible engineer for a satellite communications subsystem or a major portion of a system. This role will provide you the opportunity to demonstrate your analytical capabilities and utilize your ingenuity by developing system requirements, specifications and architecture; performing requirements analysis and system trade studies, analyzing and resolving complex operational issues and implementing corrective action. You may lead system level tests, develop methods, standards, plans and procedures for system engineering tools, tests and operation documents. As necessary, you will contribute to proposals by developing technical portions of teaming agreements, estimating costs and estimating schedules; and you will conduct Engineering Review Boards and provide technical inputs. It will be essential for you to perform advanced research, design and development in one or more engineering specialties such as mission, communications, telemetry command & ranging, imaging, or payload component design. You will also be required to monitor and manage technical, cost and schedule performance on subcontracts and internal efforts of moderate size and complexity and serve as principal member of an internal mission operations teams. Minimum Requirements: B.S. in or the equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, plus ten years of related work experience. An advanced degree in a specialized field of engineering or science is desirable. With an M.S. degree, eight years work experience is required and with a Ph.D. six years work experience is necessary. An advanced understanding of electrical engineering, applied physics, and mathematics as they relate to satellite communications systems is critical. An understanding of computer aided design, modeling, and analysis tools and their application to satellite communications systems is required.
