Skelly and Loy, Inc., a privately owned corporation with 5 Mid-Atlantic offices and approximately 180 employees, is looking for a qualified archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources Service Group as a Principal Investigator. The firm provides the full spectrum of professional engineering and environmental services to various public and private sector clients throughout the United States and abroad. Skelly and Loy is consistently ranked one of the best  environmental firms in the nation and our team of experts, with broad experience and sound technical skills, works together to produce the superior work for which the firm is well known.

 

This is a full-time permanent position with competitive compensation commensurate with experience and includes vacation, medical, and 401-K benefits.  Applicants must be available for in-person interviews, must be able to provide their own transportation, possess a valid driver's license, and live (or be willing to relocate) within driving distance of our newly relocated Pittsburgh office. RESPONSIBILITIES  Design, conduct, and report archaeological investigations Coordinate and assist clients with regulatory compliance Coordinate field crews and logistics for Phase I-III projects Develop methodology and research designs for Phase II/III projects Synthesize background research, methodology, results, and all other pertinent information into reports and deliverables to be reviewed by agencies Market Skelly and Loy to new and existing clients

 

REQUIRED Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience at the Principal Investigator level Demonstrated expertise in conducting lithic analysis At least six months of supervisory field and analytic experience in general North American archeology Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion Strong organizational, technical and writing skills Strong communication skills Working knowledge of Section 106 and other pertinent cultural resource regulations (e.g., NAGPRA, ARPA, state guidelines) Demonstrated ability to meet budget and schedule requirements Experience in Eastern United States culture history Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship

 

DESIRED SKILLS Registered Professional Archaeologist Experience in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and New York archaeology Working knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Statistical analysis, technical knowledge of GIS Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment Association with and membership in national, regional, and state professional organizations (e.g., SAA, SHA, SIA, PAC) Holds or has the ability to obtain a security clearance
