Principal RF Design Engineer

This job requires producing timely results that are high quality and accurate.  Benefiting from an analytical, inquiring and critical mind, this job requires imagination and strong problem solving skills, with a technical orientation.

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design of RF circuits and assemblies to be incorporated into Datron’s military communications products.  The candidate must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and direction.  Must be able to model using computerized modeling techniques, create schematics, breadboard and test their designs and theorems.  Demonstrate the ability to defend their design criteria and help integrate their work into the overall product.

 

Must be familiar with designs in the 1.5 to 500 MHz frequency range and power levels from a few dBm to 1 kW.  Circuits typically dealt with include VCO’s, synthesizers. Phase locked loops, filters, directional couplers, DDS, IF, and power amplifier stages.  Incumbent must be familiar with current and emerging design methodologies, new components, and techniques.

 

Candidate must have experience in transceiver level system design and capable of leading a major hardware development effort.  Must be familiar with RF test methods, basic manufacturing techniques, design manufacturability, cost control (as it applies to their design) and time to market concerns.  Must be comfortable in a team environment working synergistically with co-workers and management.

 

The preferred educational requirements for this position would be a BSEE and a minimum 5 years direct experience in the field of RF Design.  Must have experience with CAD-based RF design (electronic and/or mechanical), and ability to promote accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced environment.  The ideal candidate must be focused and detail oriented, with effective communication skills: interpersonal, written and verbal.  Able to set and achieve specific standards for self and for others; with an emphasis on schedule and quality.  Technical knowledge and experience with radios or RF Communication devices, such as;

· Receiver design – 1-500MHz

· Transmitter design – 1-500MHz

· Filters, DDS&PLL synthesizers

· Amplifiers, classes A, AB and power levels to 1kW

· HF Antenna Tuners desirable
