The successful candidate will have responsibility for management and technical production of integrated land use/transportation, corridor, comprehensive, transit oriented development, downtown, neighborhood, and revitalization planning projects for predominantly public sector clients. He/She will lead projects as well as coordinate the efforts of project managers, urban planners, other disciplines, and technical staff on multiple projects. The Principal Urban Planner will have the responsibility for winning new urban planning work and for new business development. He/She will have a strong reputation with major clients and knowledge of market opportunities in the DC area and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.In addition he/she will coordinate with the group and office leaders regarding marketing budgets, goal setting, staffing, recruiting, and project coordination. A high level of client interaction is expected.HNTB is seeking an accomplished Urban Planner with 12 or more years of experience on major urban planning assignments, coupled with marketing prowess to lead urban planning business development initiatives for HNTBs Washington DC Urban Design and Planning practice. A Masters degree Urban Planning is required; AICP certification and/or LEED accreditation would be an asset.The person hired must enjoy working in an exciting and diverse environment, think creatively, and juggle concurrent projects. He/She must excel working in a multi-disciplinary team based environment. Strong written and oral communication and mentoring skills are required. The qualified candidate will be energetic and creative. This position requires a person who is self-directed and focused. He/She must have the intellect, integrity and influencing skills required to build strong professional relationships at all levels, internally and externally.QualificationsMaster?s degree in Planning or related field plus 12 or more years of experience.
