Product Engineer - Cutting & Clamping

Summary:
In this position you will be responsible for design, development and program management of new and improved product ideas and concepts into completed drawings that will meet our manufacturing, safety, quality, regulatory code compliance and marketing objectives. Must estimate development costs and monitor assigned projects through all phases of development. Perform sampling, product testing and documentation including the writing of product performance specifications and test plans. Prepare models, costs, technical data, product documentation and/or initiate requests for model making and testing services. Position involves close coordination with manufacturing, marketing, industrial design and customer base.

The position will require 15-20% travel to worldwide locations to implement production of products and to locate new, potential suppliers and/or manufacturing locations.

Education & Experience: Ideal candidate will have 2 - 5 years of experience of engineering in a manufacturing environment. BS in Mechanical Engineering (or Engineering-related discipline) Experience with Pro/Engineering (ProE) modeling and detailing Direct experience in the design and manufacturing of products using relevant engineering technologies. Range of expertise in mechanical design, metallurgy, heat treat, metal machining, and performance testing. Previous designs involving manufacturing process such as heat treat, forging, die casting, plastic injection molding, and metal stamping technology is a definite plus. Exposure and/or experience with the design and manufacture of cutting/fastening products are also desirable, but not required. Understanding (or willingness to learn) of multinational manufacturing locations/cultures.

Knowledge & Skills:Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including MS Project and Excel. Self motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Think creatively to develop ideas that can be protected by patents. Ability to correctly tolerance parts for form, fit, and functions. Ability to work in a global, multi-functional team environment.
