- - HAY POINT: 363ENTRY LEVEL VEHICLE PERFORMANCE ENGINEERPurpose:Produce thorough, accurate vehicle development and validation test information on new or modified products.Functions:Coordinate vehicle engineering test activities related to projects according to established priorities. Define objectives of the test, testing methods, and provide written summaries and conclusions of test results.Combine engineering knowledge in the planning, execution and analysis of vehicle tests based upon test objectives and requirements including; manpower, required test equipment, and vehicle allocations. Monitor test progress and resolve problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects.Provide engineering technical assistance to technician test personnel within and outside the department involved in test activities. Interface internally with Performance and Emissions and Components engineers. Interface externally with Freightliner engineering.Analyze test results to ensure validity of test results. Present test results to Engineering management.Travel 25 to 30% of time on various vehicle test activity including; cold ambient winter test, high ambient and high altitude summer test, over the road fuel economy and Freightliner cold chamber and climatic wind tunnel testing.Reports to:Vehicle Performance Group ManagerSupervises:None Basic Qualifications:BSME and two years internship experience in engine development and/or vehicle testing activities.Familiarity with engine and vehicle instrumentation including; data acquisition, portable emission bench and smoke opacity meter measurement.Desire to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) RESPOND HERE!
