Product Manager -PACO Products

Grundfos CBS Inc. is a Pump Manufacturer located in Brookshire,TX - 20 miles west of Houston.

 

General Summary: 

Responsible for market suitability of PACO-branded product and for increasing Grundfos' sales, market share, contribution margin and profitability within Sales distribution and OEM product segments through effective cross-functional leadership.  Focus will be PACO-branded product lines including but not limited to End Suction, In Line and Split Case pumps.  Primary market focus shall be CBS.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.         New Products:  Successfully lead and coordinate new product introductions and field tests.

2.         Support Applications Engineers and Manufacturing Support Engineers with technical information, training, and product analysis.

3.         Product Costs:  Actively lead/coordinate efforts to reduce product costs with Engineering and Manufacturing.

4.         Product Positioning:  Assuring proper product positioning by coordinating promotion features including accessories, literature, etc.  Establish pricing with Regional Segment Managers to assure optimum market share and profit.

5.         Product Quality:  Actively participate in quality meetings. Evaluate warranty data and coordinate plans of action for continuous product improvements.  Field trouble shooting as appropriate.

6.         Cross-Functional Leadership:  Must provide cross-functional team leadership among representatives from other departments including Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Sales and Finance.  Maintain activities dialogue with Product Business Managers in Denmark.  Ensure GCB product needs receive high priority within the Development Group.

7.         Competitor Intelligence:  Maintain competitor tracking and information system in conjunction with Market Analyst.

8.         Responsible for assuring that PACO products meet present and future market requirements in order that line sales meet company sales and margin budget goals in dollars and units.

9.         Market Analysis:  Develop intimate familiarity with market size, trends, needs, pricing, and opportunities of various market segments.  Must be able to perform market analysis and prepare strategic recommendations for assigned business segment.

10.         Customer Liaison:  Direct contact/support to major customers within the various market segments.

11.         National and local Exhibitions:  Coordinate national and local trade show participation with Regional Segment Managers to assure optimum sales and profits within segment.

12.         Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, verbally or in writing.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

     1.         Good mechanical and electrical background.

     2.         Strong knowledge of end suction centrifugal pumps.

     3.         Strong knowledge of pump systems and applications in the commercial building service and industrial end user markets

     4.         Experience trouble shooting centrifugal pump problems.

     5.         Knowledge of product positioning, selling skills, and marketing.

     6.          Ability to identify trends and opportunities through SWOT analysis, define key buying factors, conduct benchmarking, conduct focus groups, perform total quality, calculate ROI, etc.

     7.         Knowledge of optimizing profitability, market share through pricing, and finance including budgeting/cost control.

     8.         Excellent oral and written communication skills for groups and individuals, with technical and non-technical persons.

     9.         Proven presentation skills.

 10.         Develop effective training outlines and programs.

 11.         Good training and train-the-trainer skills.

 12.         Effective time management skills.

 13.         Excellent listening skills.

 14.         Excellent leadership and team development skills.

 15.         Cross-functional team experience.

 16.         Advanced PC experience, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation program, some relational database experience.

 17.         Knowledge of Grundfos and Grundfos competitor’s strategies and products. 

 

Education and Experience:    

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline plus 5-8 years of experience in pump sales, engineering, or operations.

Comments:   

Must be willing to travel 20% including weekends.  Minimal one (1) international trip annually.
