Sandvik Hard Materials, a leading global manufacturer of a wide variety of products in cemented carbide is seeking a Production Manager at the Brooklyn Center, MN facility

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 

The Production Manager  will direct and coordinate activities of the production in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors:

 

· Review production orders to plan department operations, making sure resources are properly applied/managed to meet delivery/quality requirements

o Control daily output from plant operations

o Manage capacity on different work centers on a daily basis.

o Manage on time delivery to dispatch list

· Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

o Understand and control variances to standards

o F/U on KPIs (Output - pieces & Dollars / Efficiency  -utilization/ Scrap -Quality)

· Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

· Develop or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

· Resolve worker grievances, supporting the supervisors in people management.

· Compile, store, and retrieve production data.

· Managerial responsibility includes managing two production supervisors, one maintenance supervisor, one maintenance technician and 45 workers to achieve strategic goals.

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

The ideal candidate will possess a college degree in business-related or engineering field with 5+ years management experience in a manufacturing environment. The incumbent will possess excellent verbal & interpersonal communication skills with a high analytical aptitude to interpret both operational and financial reports, scientific journals, and legal documents. Candidate must have a strong drive for Production Administration rather than “hands on” or manufacturing ability and must work well in group situations and effectively handle customer inquiries and complaints from regulatory agencies or members of the business community. The ability to write speeches and articles for publication and high mathematical aptitude are a must.
