Production Manager - Packaging
Accountable for managing plant packaging operation activities across multiple shifts and/or departments to package products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. Implements standard work and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor, implementing autonomous maintenance. Oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. This plant processes and packages food products as part of the ConAgra Foods Snacks Platform.Position Responsibilities Full P&L responsibilities for a technical packaging area with state-of-the-art equipment. This would include labor, waste, rework, departmental tools and essential ordered parts. Full ownership for (7) salaried supervisors and approximately 300 hourly associates across (4) 12 hours shifts in a 24/7 Unionized operation. Ability to lead and develop teams to highest potential level is expected. Responsible to build Reliability Improvement Plans to gap and meet expected goals around closing gaps and improving safety, quality, efficiency and waste goals. Operationally required to be available 24/7 for any major issues around operational efficiencies and problems. Ability to work with scheduling to build optimum flow schedules that maximize throughput and minimize waste while meeting customer fulfillment requirements. Understanding of, as well as the ability to, roll-out and practice continuous improvement methodologies (CPS) to include but not limited to, Daily Operations, AM, FI, 5S, Kaizen events, and other CPS tools. Strong consideration for Autonomous Maintenance experience. Candidate does not practice this as taught, but simply understands the business must be run using these tools. It is the way we run our business. Highly organizational in nature. Ability to build, track and monitor to plan to meet departmental and plant goals. Specifically, safety, quality, production, waste, labor and continuous improvement implementation. Ability to roll out structure and rigor around discipline and policy which when combined with a fair process, promotes engagement, inclusivity and ongoing employee development. Ability to walk into a high paced, changing environment and hit the ground running. Pulling together team/hourly support leads and building plans around development opportunities for hourly and salaried leads. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and accomplish/exceed goals on a consistent basis. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling. This would be achieved through tight linkage to the Processing department and team. Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards and sanitation practices Monitor and coordinate maintenance schedules as well as controlling costs of production, quality, and sanitation Participate in labor/management relations and work to develop attitudes and behaviors around and towards a department that thinks and acts as one.Position Qualifications BS Degree in a Technical Discipline preferred Minimum 3-5 years directly related experience, food industry preferred Packaging operations experience in a manufacturing environment required.
