Production/Process Engineer

PROCESS ENGINEER

I. PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide technical support of assigned production units to Corporate, plant management and hourly workforce. Perform liaison duties between production unit and engineering and maintenance.

 

II. KNOW HOW REQUIRED:

· Minimum B.S. Chemical Engineering 

· Knowledge of larger manufacturing processes and systems. Phosphate manufacturing chemistry is a plus.

· Average interpersonal and communication skills are a minimum requirement. 

· Planning skills to schedule and/or perform projects and maintenance.

· Minimum 3 years experience as Senior Engineer I

· Good understanding of the hazards of materials such as natural gas, industrial solvents, lubricants, as well as the need for protection of the environment and basic knowledge of permit requirements

· Conceptual understanding of Good Manufacturing practices and Management of Change

· Knowledge SPC techniques

 

 

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  approximate % of time

 

· PRODUCTION 35%

Ø Develop and implement production procedures for assigned processes

Ø Evaluate production results/troubleshoot quantity and quality problems – Implement corrective actions as required

Ø Perform and evaluate hourly technical training for assigned processes

Ø Day to day interaction with hourly force within assigned production units

Ø Investigate customer complaints for assigned processes

 

· ENGINEERING  35%

Ø Prepare capital budget and projects for assigned processes

Ø Perform root cause analysis of process deviations and ensure follow-up on action items

Ø Liaise with QU

Ø Participate in the Process Improvement Team (PIC)

Ø Drive process improvements

Ø Ensure continuous improvement of plant processes

 

· SAFETY 10%

Ø Maintain and implement process safety programs for assigned processes

Ø Maintain and implement Food Safety programs for assigned processes

Ø Management of Change (MOC) process

 

· GENERAL   5%

Ø Work with plant team to achieve plant objectives

 

· CUSTOMER SATISFACTION  15 %

Ø Responsible to investigate, answer and implement corrective actions to all customer complaints
