The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is a regional agency of the state of Florida, and is charged with managing and protecting water resources of the region by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply. SFWMD's boundaries extend from central Florida to Lake Okeechobee, and from coast to coast, from Fort Myers to Fort Pierce, south through the sprawling Everglades to the Florida Keys and Florida Bay. Job Summary:Assist with managing the physical, fiscal, and human resources of a remote regional field facility.  Supervise water resource operations and maintenance program efforts including coordination, implementation, tracking and communication of comprehensive program and project objectives, milestones and schedules.  Document, report, budget, and integrate with other District activities, on one or more field operations activities such as vegetation management, structure maintenance, canal levee maintenance, water management construction, storm water treatment area maintenance, and pumping operations. Conduct interviews, train, motivate, assign and evaluate work. Provide technical and programmatic coordination and interaction with other District units, government agencies and the public.  Works often in an office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products.  Some travel to conduct business at remote locations. Valid Florida driver's license required.  Valid certifications and licenses corresponding to program areas preferred.  Work is performed in both an office and field environment.  Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may be, at times, required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies. Education Requirements:Typically has Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and licenses/certifications that are appropriate for the program area of responsibility and 6 – 8 plus years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water management works, including increasingly responsible experience in construction, maintenance, and operation of program area of responsibility, of which at least three (3) years include supervisory experience. To apply, visit our website at www.sfwmd.gov.Job Reference NB50079925.EOE.
