Programmer Analyst 2

Summary Analyzes and documents software process flow, testing procedures, and development lifecycle by performing the following duties personally or through peers and supervisors. Resolve specific software defects and issues as reported by the customers. Code SQL queries, Java methods, Oracle Forms and other software components as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Works with other software developers and external software vendors in order to thoroughly analyze and document VT Milcom’s current and ongoing software applications.

Develop and maintain a software applications knowledge bank for valuable software and process documentation.

Write technical documents, user manuals and release notes for new and existing software applications; to include Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between various applications.

Develop, perform and document software application test cases for in-house software development efforts and third party software upgrades. This will require strong knowledge of SQL to validate data accuracy.

Respond to Service Desk email and telephone requests for software applications maintained by VT Milcom. This will include the ability to debug issues related to Java and SQL code and related databases.

Develop Service Desk reports internal IT inventory and asset reports.

Capable of developing ad-hoc business related reports using various commercial and in house reporting tools with focus on Business Intelligence reporting based on management needs.

Analyze current software configuration management processes in order to improve and maintain the IT Departments Software Configuration Management plan.

Must be eligible to obtain a security Clearance.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems or related field. 5-7 years experience as an IT professional performing the essential duties previously described. Bachelor's degree can be substituted with an Associate Degree and 8-10 years of experience, and demonstration of exceptional knowledge of the duties and responsibilities previously described. Some experience coding Oracle FORMS. Five years experience with PL/SQL. 1-2 years Java programming experience. Report writing and specification creation and interpretation required. AJAX, XML, JavaScript experience advantageous.

Salary Range: Exempt $45,000 - $50,000 Depending on experience.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Relational Databases, Oracle and MySQL, with SQL and report generation tools; Source code control software concepts; Commonly used software packages such as word processors, spreadsheets and Web Browsers; Software Integrated Development Environments used for code production.

MUST have skill- Oracle,Microsoft Office. Most desired specific skills include, MySQL, CVS,and Advent Service Desk. Must be eligible to obtain a security Clearance.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts of decimal rounding, mathematical order of operations and summation formula generation. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
