Project Engineer/Field Engineer

****Please contact Mike Hopkins at 484.567.2088 and email me a word document form of your resume along with Three Professional References****Interpret technical engineering information for future dissemination to company supervision, crafts personnel and customer contacts.  Monitor progress of in-process construction work to ensure all engineering standards, codes and job specifications will be satisfied.  Provide technical and administrative direction to field layout or survey personnel and when necessary, perform the field layout or survey operations personally.

Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, civil or industrial engineering. If non-degreed, a combination of technical training and six years of experience in heavy construction, surveying or pressure vessel and boiler fabrication.Essential Functions

 

1.        Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.

2.        Utilize and improve the Management System for effective and efficient fulfillment of requirements from customers, regulators and values, policies, objectives and targets.

3.        Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and personnel.

4.        Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project.  When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.

5.        Maintain a controlled set of project drawings and specifications at the jobsite.

6.        Interpret design/drawings for crafts installing materials.

7.        Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference and errors.

8.        Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.

9.        Assist with heavy rigging reviews.

10.    Provide technical support and direction to implement rigging plans when necessary.

11.    Conduct regular walkdowns and inspections of construction projects, including safety audits, to ensure compliance with OSHA, customer and project specifications.

12.    Provide necessary building control lines, elevation lines or part alignment lines for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials.

13.    Communicate and cooperate with jobsite customer representatives,  jobsite management and craft supervision on topics such as completed work, work in process and problem resolution.

14.    Assist jobsite project management and craft supervision with overall management of the project.

15.    Assist with the inventory, inspection and when necessary, purchase, of customer furnished or NCC supplied material as received on the jobsite.

16.    Prepare and disseminate required documentation records, such as status reports, punch lists for uncompleted work, sketches of completed work, material requirement calculations, etc., to the Project Manager.

17.    Verify completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.  Monitor QA/QC policies and procedures per applicable codes.

18.    Assist with documentation for completed code work.

19.    Support the QA/QC personnel at the jobsite with ordering weld procedures and weld qualifications.

20.    Assist in documenting welder performance, welder identification maps, x-ray logs etc.

21.    Assist in developing and performing non-destructive test packages (NDT), such as hydrotest packages for vessels or piping systems.

22.    Assist in developing and/or updating schedules or cost control programs.

23.    Must enter boiler mud drums, tray towers, etc through small manway openings.

24.    Travel to and remain at jobsite continuously until released by the Project Manager.

25.    Provide direction to junior engineers assigned to the project.
