Job Title:  Quality Engineer

Department:  Quality

Reports to: Quality ManagerSUMMARY

Responsibilities include support product line manufacturing processes, documentation revision and maintenance, workflow efficiency and continual improvement, measurement and compliance to internal and customer requirements with regards to ideal state metrics, Production System (APS) and Quality Management System and sustaining processes for ensuring compliance with design, ASME, UL, CRN, customer and strategic business requirements.  Provide close and direct support to the product engineering and material supply functions of the product line teams and address product line defects and variations in parts, products and processes. 

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

1.  Support daily issues; protect flow and respond to daily customer demand

2.  Maintain, identify and establish process controls that are critical to quality

3.  Develop and maintain product process control documentation

4.  Lead, initiate and track deviations and nonconforming product reports utilizing data and documentation systems

5.  Take direction from Quality Supervisor and respond to line down issues.

6.  Assist in defining and sustaining critical to quality characteristics for products

7.  Ensure compliance and integration of regulatory requirements, (UL, ASME, etc.) into product line as defined by management, engineering, sales and marketing

8.  Be resident product line expert in quality

9.  Implement, support and achieve best practices for job function in support of a World Class environment aligned with the Ideal State of Safely Produced, Defect Free, On Demand and No Waste in a One Piece Flow process

10.  Perform internal audits of quality process compliance

11.  Respond to all Andon lights

12.  Join NPD teams to help incorporate quality into the design upfront

13.  Signoff units at final inspection for release to shipping and other areas as necessary

14.  Additional projects and tasks to be assigned as needed.

3.  Demonstrated interpersonal skills and a team player. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

1.  ASME experience preferred

2.  BSME preferred, Engineering degree required

3.  Two + years experience in Quality Systems/Quality Control in a manufacturing environment.

4.  Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

5.  Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology

2.  Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.

3.  Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on the shop floor.
