RF Engineer-Planning & Optimization

Xanadoo LLC is an exciting new facilities-based provider of portable wireless Internet access and broadband communications ("WISP") to residential, small business and enterprise subscribers.  We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

 

RF Engineer – Planning & Optimization

 

In this role, the RF Engineer will manage RF Design and Optimization process for Xanadoo’s wireless high-speed internet markets.  Provide a high quality and high capacity wireless network within the budgetary, regulatory and time constraints given.  Plan and prioritize projects for optimization, system performance, traffic and capacity planning, and system design.

Responsibilities:

·  Assist deployment team with new cell site selection, design and RF propagation for wireless network to ensure cost effective and efficient deployment.

·  Develop traffic forecasts for capacity.  Recommend equipment harvesting from suboptimal sites for efficient and sufficient capacity planning.

·  Provide continuous performance analysis of system and prioritize issues for investigation and resolution.

·  Document system trouble due to RF interference or lack of RF signal strength, recommending system modifications or enhancements to solve or reduce the system interference, and help determine integration plans to implement those changes.

·  Develop plans to meet and exceed network performance KPI’s.

·  Coordinate, collect, process and analyze drive test data.  Provide drive test data output to IS team for back office integration.

·  Monitor performance statistics to identify performance anomalies.

·  Create and maintain databases and maps of tower vendors’ site locations to aid in system design.

·  Ability to serve in an advisory role to cross-functional teams developed to optimize system performance and customer experience.

Education / Experience:Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal skills are required. Adaptable, analytical abilities.Broadband, Cellular, Digital, RF, Wireless experience. Knowledge and experience related to computer information systems is desirable.Proficient with Unix, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint; Experience with wireless communications test equipment. BSEE or equivalent related experience/education.6 years of related experience in RF design in wireless telecommunications.Prior recent experience and knowledge of CDMA and/or WiMAX equipment is preferred.
