 Open Position - Regulatory Engineer

 

Reports to: Vice President of Manufacturing

 

Job Summary:

1.        This person is responsible for managing all regulatory requirements for the company’s products (Product Safety, EMC, RoHS).  Additionally, this person would set up new equipment, processes and instruct Manufacturing Department personnel as required. 

 

Essential Functions:

1.        Monitoring, interpreting, and complying with worldwide laws and directives with regard to regulatory compliance.

2.        Preparation and driving execution of regulatory test plans to meet schedules for both internally designed as well as procured products.

3.        Producing required regulatory reports (both internal and external), as well as maintenance of associated data or records.

4.        Interfacing with manufacturing, engineering, various suppliers, vendors, and industry business partners to ensure both manufacturability and regulatory compliance.

5.        Conduct regulatory testing as needed and maintain product labeling system and data.

6.        Evaluate component substitutions required to support RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances) and part obsolescence.

7.        Work closely with manufacturing and engineering personnel to resolve design, regulatory and product quality concerns.

8.        Review design documentation for completeness and adequacy to support manufacturing and regulatory needs.

9.        Prepare well crafted and timely responses for internal and external product safety or regulatory concerns.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.        Working knowledge of regulatory compliance issues related to industrial machinery and Information Technology Equipment.

2.        Interpersonal and communication skills needed to positively influence cross-functional groups on product related processes.

3.        Has ability and initiative to organize and manage multiple projects, set priorities and work independently under aggressive timelines.

4.        Knowledge of regulatory compliance processes involving regulatory bodies/standards such as NRTL’s, RoHS, CE mark, CB-Scheme, and FCC.

5.        Detail oriented.

6.        Ability to learn new skills quickly and assume additional responsibilities.

7.        Must possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

8.        Strong knowledge of personal computer software.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a BSEE
