Research Scientist/Computational Biologist

RESEARCH SCIENTIST/COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join an exciting cross-disciplinary effort by cancer biologists and engineers to advance cancer research to a new level and be involved in cutting-edge research projects. Duties will include working with members of the Koch Institute on the design, analysis, and interpretation of genomic experiments (microarrays and massively parallel sequencing); and developing and implementing new software tools on an as-needed basis, using and adapting currently available software packages. Will act in diverse roles--from instructor to collaborator--on different projects.

REQUIREMENTS: a M.S. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, biology, or related field; expertise in functional genomics and associated statistical methodologies; experience in the design, analysis, and interpretation of genome-scale experiments; statistical analysis experience; programming skill with Perl, Python, or Java; proficiency with R and/or MATLAB; experience with relational databases, e.g., MySQL or Oracle and SQL; and working knowledge of a broad range of common bioinformatics tools. Expertise with different microarray platforms and a variety of analysis packages and familiarity with massively parallel sequence data applications a plus.
