This position is a unique opportunity for a newly-graduated (less than two years) BS or MS Mechanical Engineer to explore a career within Chevron Oronite Company while contributing to important projects and business goals. The successful candidate should have some academic or practical experience in one or more of the following areas: internal combustion engines, transmissions, pumps, hydraulic systems and organic chemistry. Rotational assignments usually involve three positions in widely ranging areas of responsibility within the company over a period of three to five years. The positions will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and knowledge, the candidate’s career objectives, and the needs of Chevron Oronite for technical resources. The opportunities will be in functional areas such as research, product development, manufacturing, business/product line planning, and technical marketing. Each new position will be determined near the end of the candidate’s then current assignment. Once committed to the first assignment, the candidate will be expected to continue in rotational assignments before making a career decision.Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:• Independently design, coordinate, and conduct fundamental and applied R&D programs in support of Oronite’s global lubricant and fuel additive businesses. This includes applying internal combustion engine/chemistry fundamentals as well as advanced problem solving skills to develop new cost competitive additive products and formulations.• Develop regional and global additive packages for Natural Gas and Railroad Engine Oils. Functions include but not limited to new component evaluations, new product and competitive product performance testing in engines and the field, and managing formulation and component changes that impact the product line.• Collaborate with Regional Component Managers and Manufacturing plants to assess proposed changes to component manufacturing including process, raw material, and product specification changes. • Act as a design or maintenance engineer for day to day operation of units within a manufacturing plant.• Execute market study to determine a slate of products, technical resource needs to develop and support them, and price positioning to justify investment for new automotive product line in the U.S.Required Qualifications:• BS/MS Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering required.• Positions may require domestic and possibly some international travel.
